What Is Taser C2 and How Does It Work?
Taser International recently released their next generation, personal protection device, the Taser C2. The C2 is a consumer friendly version of their man stopping technology. It is small enough to put in a purse or pocket, and looks very innocent, yet it will instantly drop anyone who tries to attack you like a sack of pork fat.
Taser has been making non-lethal self-defense products for personal, military and police agencies for years. The C2 uses the same technology as their other models, in that it is a gun of sorts that uses a disposable, nitrogen propelled cartridge that shoots two metal electrified darts into an attacker instead of bullets. However, they add a kicker that you won't find on the other Taser products that truly makes it one of the best self-defense products we have ever seen.
The darts are initially highly charged, and will penetrate up to two inches of the attackers clothing. When the darts make connect with the attacker, it then shoots 50,000 volts of electricity through the wires into the attacker's body for thirty full seconds. That is twenty five seconds longer than their other products, which only have a five second cycle. No one can take thirty seconds of voltage and still try to attack you. Just touching a stun gun to someone will put them down; imagine holding it to them for thirty seconds.
While the C2 works similar to a stun gun, in that it delivers high voltage to the human body, it also includes something interesting called "Shaped Pulse Technology." This pulses the electricity at the same time, causing involuntary muscle contractions in the attacker. The device varies the pulse and its frequency several times during the thirty seconds. Unlike a stun gun, which just affects the attackers sensory functions, the Pulse technology will also affects the motor functions of their nervous system. The attacker will hit the ground like a slug, unable to move his arms or legs, giving you plenty of time to run away, while the C2 is still going through its cycle.
One interesting feature is that you must pass an online background check before you can use it! It is shipped in an inactive, locked state, and unless you have the code, it will never operate. This will prevent criminals and mental patients from buying one. If approved, they immediately issue you a code to unlock it. Also, every consumer Taser cartridge has some confetti in it that is coded specifically to you, so if it is used in an offensive or criminal situation, they will track you down.
Another great feature is the built in laser on some of the models, which helps you aim the device at the attacker; if one or both of the darts miss the attacker, and it won't do anything. With the laser, it helps you aim for the center of the attacker's chest, and you won't miss. In case you do miss, you can still use the device like a stun gun; just put it up to the attacker's shoulder, torso, or hips, and pull the trigger. The gun will still transfer the voltage through the gun, into the attacker's body.
The C2 is designed to be used from up to 5-15 feet. Anything further and the darts spread too far and you miss; closer and they might not spread far enough to work properly. When used in the field by law enforcement against dangerous suspects, the technology offers the lowest injury rates of any force option, with over 95% success rate.
While Tasers give you man stopping power, using them is not totally risk free, and may cause injuries to you, especially if you fall, or over exert yourself. Also, if you forget to turn off the safety, your attacker might overtake you, and use it on you. The use of any self-defense device should not be undertaken lightly, though, when your life is in danger, you must defend yourself!
