(Monday, February 22, 2010) I have been a Brink's customer since 1993. During that time, I have moved three times and used their move policy each time to have a system installed in my new home. I have always been happy with the installation, the equipment, the monitoring response, and the overall customer service. I have referred several friends and family members to Brink's. Some of them have had bad experiences with ADT and were fed up with the poor service they were getting, and all of them have been happy with their move to Brink's. When Brink's changed their name to Broadview, I was concerned that it would affect the caliber of service, but it didn't. Now I've heard that ADT is buying Brink's/Broadview and I am not happy. I don't want to trust my safety to the carelessness at ADT, and I don't appreciate ADT eliminating their main competition by buying them out. When the deal is sealed, I will be looking for another security provider.
(Thursday, August 20, 2009) Security aspect was not a problem. Deceptive sales and marketing was! We installed the home security system at one location. My only concern and I asked our sales rep at the time was about moving. He assured me it was a not a problem! So, we moved about 7 months after the installation and lo and behold, the first thing Brink's did was charge us for the remaining months of the 3-year contract, as if we canceled it! After calling and clarifying again (called the first time to have the service discontinued at one location and moved to the new location and was told at that time they would just issue a new 3-year contract on the new location), Brink's then started a new 3-year contract at the new location PLUS added on the remaining months of the first year from the original location. I just called to find out when our contract expired, as next month we will have been in this location for 3 years and this was how I found that out! Brink's told me that basically there was nothing we could do because we signed off on the new contract. Stupid us for believing not one, but TWO, sales reps!
